How we make and check our content

Layth & Layan is made by a small family team. We are not scholars. Here is where everything on the site comes from, how we check it, and what to do if you find a mistake.

Who makes it

Layth & Layan is made by Ashraf and Salam, a brother and sister, through our small studio, Renad Studios. No scholar reviews the site. Instead, we check every religious line against trusted sources before it goes up: IslamQA.info, Islamweb and Yaqeen Institute.

Where the words come from

The Quran

The Arabic text, the transliterations and the translations come from Quran.com. The meanings on each surah page are simplified for children, so read the full translation on Quran.com.

Sofia’s voice is made with a voice tool. Before any recitation is published, we compare its pronunciation with Sheikh Ahmad al-Ajamy’s recitation on Quran.com.

Duas and dhikr

Every dua and dhikr comes from the Quran or from the authentic teachings of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, preserved in classical hadith collections such as Bukhari, Muslim, Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud. The dhikr pages name the source under each one.

Lessons

Each lesson names its source, a surah of the Quran or a hadith collection, at the end of the story.

Prayer

The prayer guide follows the Hanafi method, the most widely followed school of Islamic law. All schools agree on the core elements of prayer; the differences are minor variations in detail.

Spanish

The Spanish pages are drafted with the help of translation tools and checked by our family. The meanings of the Quran’s verses in Spanish are by Sheikh Isa García, via Quran.com.
