In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
The people who refused to believe — from those given earlier Scriptures and from those who worshipped idols — were not going to change until clear proof came to them:
a messenger from Allah, reciting pure and holy pages,
filled with true and upright teachings.
And those who were given the Scripture only split apart after the clear proof had already come to them.
They were only told to worship Allah alone with a sincere heart, to keep up the prayer, and to give charity. That is the straight and true religion.
Those who refused to believe will stay in the Fire of Hell. They are the worst of all creatures.
But those who believe and do good deeds — they are the best of all creatures.
Their reward with their Lord is Gardens of Eternity, with rivers flowing underneath, where they will live forever. Allah is pleased with them, and they are pleased with Him. That is for the one who stands in awe of their Lord.
About Al-Bayyinah
Al-Bayyinah means “the clear proof.” The surah says that Allah did not leave people guessing — He sent a clear proof, a messenger reciting pure and holy pages, so that everyone could know the truth plainly.
Then it does something wonderful: it sums up the entire religion in a single verse. People were only ever commanded to do three things — worship Allah alone with a sincere heart, keep up the prayer, and give charity. That’s it. That is “the straight and true religion.” Not complicated; just sincere.
The surah ends by dividing everyone into two groups by what they chose. And about the believers who do good, Allah says something breathtaking: they are the best of all creatures — better, in that moment, than anything else He created. For children, Al-Bayyinah is a clear map: mean it in your heart, pray, and be generous, and you are on the beautiful path Allah described.
Verse 5 is famous because it gathers the heart of Islam into one line: worship Allah sincerely, establish the prayer, and give charity. Scholars have pointed to it as a tiny summary of what a Muslim’s life is built on. If a child remembers only one idea from this surah, this is the one.

What does Al-Bayyinah mean?
Al-Bayyinah (البينة) means “the clear proof” or “the clear evidence.” It refers to the plain, unmistakable sign Allah sent to guide people: a messenger reciting pure scriptures, mentioned in the surah’s opening verses.
What is Surah Al-Bayyinah about?
It teaches that Allah sent a clear proof to humankind and that people were only ever commanded to do three things: worship Allah with a sincere heart, keep up the prayer, and give charity. It then contrasts those who reject this with those who believe and do good — calling the believers the best of all creatures.
How long is Surah Al-Bayyinah?
Al-Bayyinah is eight verses long, but some of its verses are longer than in most short surahs, so it takes a little more time than an eight-verse surah usually would. It is the 98th surah of the Quran and was revealed in Medina. It is a good next step for a child who has mastered the very shortest surahs.
What are the three things the surah commands?
Verse 5 names them: to worship Allah alone with sincere devotion, to establish the prayer (salah), and to give charity (zakat). The surah calls this “the straight and true religion.” It is a beautifully simple summary that children can hold onto: mean it, pray, and give.
What does “the best of creatures” mean?
In verse 7, Allah describes those who believe and do good deeds as khayr al-bariyyah — the best of all created things. It is one of the most uplifting descriptions in the Quran. For children it is a powerful encouragement: when you believe and do good, Allah Himself counts you among the very best of His creation.
How can I teach this surah to my child?
Lead with verse 5 — the “three things” verse — because it turns the whole surah into something concrete and doable: worship sincerely, pray, give. The earlier verses mention “People of the Book” and “idol-worshippers,” which you can explain simply as people who had earlier scriptures and people who worshipped statues. Keep the focus on the hopeful ending: believe, do good, and you are among the best of creatures.
